First short trip out to the rim of Beijing after coming back from Berlin.
The frescos in the video are replicas of the originals in the Main Temple Hall.
The visit to the Main Hall was impressive, with all the beautifully crafted paintings – buddhas, gods, and kings…herbaceous plants and flowers symbolizing all of this world’s creation – hidden in cavelike darkness. Every time my flashlight meets the face(faces) of a buddha, there was a shot of eternal feeling that seemed to slow down the clock. But that was something cannot be captured by my phone camera. The curious animals appearing in this video were another inspiring element of the frescos. Obviously, people of the old times observe nature in a different, and probably more sophisticated way – and modern people, like me, find it cute.
